LOVE

Love was a dear friend of mine from Harlem who I photographed for over forty years. She was loved and admired by so many people in Harlem. When she walked in the street at times she would stop the cars because she was so beautiful. She was also one of the two women accepted into the Rhythm Club, a place where musicians would meet day and night to play cards on 143rd street. All the musicians were so happy when she would come visit.

Love and I. We always had a good time together and she always threw the most incredible Christmas parties with her best friends and family. I spent all of my Christmas’ for many years at her home. She cooked the most incredible dinner and people would leave with food between two plates for the next day.

The people of Mali gave a big party on 125th street with many dancers, singers, and musicians. It went on all day and night. A beautiful souvenir.
